Associate Scientist - Robotics & Automation (Vaccines)

Location: United States - New York - Pearl River; on-premise work required. Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States and may occasionally work evenings or weekends. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and eligibility.

Annual base salary: $60,200-$100,400, plus eligibility for a 7.5% bonus target.

What you will do

• Execute automated sample preparation workflows supporting the vaccine research portfolio and generate assay-ready materials.
• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory automation systems.
• Follow approved procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and current departmental training requirements.
• Complete assigned work according to schedules, project milestones, and operational deadlines.
• Manage materials, reagents, controls, reference standards, and consumables for automated workflows.
• Collaborate with scientific, operational, and quality partners on laboratory objectives and project deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Experience working in a laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or academic environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic laboratory systems.
• Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity.
• Curiosity about improving outcomes with AI tools and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment while wearing required PPE; lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, reach, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to analyze data and apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to laboratory operations and process improvements.
• U.S. work authorization by any employer is required; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with laboratory automation, robotic liquid handling platforms such as Hamilton, Tecan, or Beckman Coulter, and high-throughput sample preparation workflows.
• Knowledge of regulated laboratory practices, data integrity principles, and quality systems such as GxP.
• Familiarity with common AI-enabled tools for problem solving and productivity.
