Senior Space Flight Software Engineer (C++)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $169,067–$216,031 per year, with eligibility for stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

Develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses, with vehicles and related systems built, integrated, and tested in-house.

What you will do

• Develop reliable flight software governing spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations throughout the mission.
• Write structured bare-metal, RTOS-based, and Linux-based embedded software in C++.
• Own software design, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
• Scope projects by capturing requirements and conducting initial design trades for open-ended problems.
• Support system quality and performance through software testing and V&V.
• Collaborate with the team to communicate, troubleshoot, and solve problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Development experience in C++ and strong understanding of C++ language concepts.
• Lawful authorization to work in the United States and qualification as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled items.

Nice to have

• End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems.
• Safety-critical software experience, especially in aerospace.
• Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems.
• Experience with the F' or cFS framework.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, and EtherCAT.
