Climbing Engineer (Telecoms)

Location: Field Based in Devon/Cornwall, United Kingdom; regular travel, climbing and rooftop work required; participation in a 24/7 callout rota and/or shift pattern may be required.

What you will do

• Install and maintain fixed and mobile network infrastructure and hirify.global business solutions.
• Climb fixed and mobile infrastructure and perform rooftop-based work, supported by regular health assessments.
• Provide service, diagnose faults and carry out rectification across relevant telecommunications technologies.
• Work to quality, health and safety standards and achieve agreed performance targets.
• Participate in a 24/7 callout rota and/or shift pattern and travel when required.
• Perform physical field work including manual lifting, stair climbing, walking and extended periods on foot in indoor and outdoor environments.

Requirements

• Formal telecommunications or electronics qualification, or equivalent experience from previous roles.
• Experience with multi-vendor CPE including Cisco, Juniper and ADVA, and core transmission technologies including DWDM and Ethernet.
• Knowledge of 3G, 4G and 5G mobile networking technologies and associated equipment.
• Knowledge of microwave radio, switches, field DC power systems, and fibre and copper cabling and termination.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; considerable lone working is required.
• Ability to work safely under pressure, meet tight deadlines, manage workload and learn new skills quickly.
• PC skills and IT literacy.
• Valid full UK or EU Category B driving licence.
• Excellent customer-facing skills; ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance, Advanced Climber and Tower Rescue Certification, and pass regular health assessments in accordance with MATS guidance.
