Senior Data Platform Engineer

Location: Chantilly, VA, US; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain secure data-ingestion pipelines and data-processing workflows for desktop- and web-based visual analytic tools.
• Design, optimize, and secure enterprise relational databases, data warehouses, and high-performance data analysis environments.
• Integrate new data systems with existing warehouses and enterprise workflows, including Splunk and custom GOTS applications.
• Support Kubernetes-based data platforms, AWS-hosted services, Terraform Infrastructure as Code, GitLab CI/CD, and JFrog Artifactory.
• Develop ETL and streaming capabilities using Python, Cribl, Apache NiFi, and Apache Kafka, including parsing, normalization, provenance, and data lineage.
• Support Vue.js, Flask, Elixir, Phoenix LiveView, and DaisyUI application components; establish engineering standards and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• Active TS or higher security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in data engineering, database design, or related fields.
• Experience with structured and semi-structured data, visualization technologies, high-performance computing, and mixed-technology environments.
• Experience improving data workflows, performance, and security.
• Strong relational database design, SQL, and ETL/ELT processing skills.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting federal or secure, multi-enclave environments.
• Background with advanced visualization platforms or high-volume data processing.
• Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and performance tuning.
