Mid-Level Data Engineer

Location: Remote within the United States; Virginia specified

What you will do

• Develop and maintain data pipelines for storing, managing, processing, and provisioning data to consumers.
• Partner with data scientists, data architects, developers, and federal stakeholders to deploy models into production.
• Write code that improves the performance and reliability of data extraction and processing.
• Automate data ingestion and support system applications through upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
• Implement API-first design, continuous integration, version control, automated testing, and other lean-agile engineering practices.
• Document complex requirements and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in an agile environment.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
• 7+ years of IT experience, including modern cloud data warehouse technologies.
• Experience designing table models and ingesting varied data into Amazon Redshift.
• Proficiency with ETL development, testing, validation, and data manipulation using Python, R, SQL, or SAS.
• Strong knowledge of big data analysis and storage technologies, AWS, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and Git.
• Understanding of agile principles and their practical application.

Nice to have

• Experience creating and consuming APIs.
• Experience with DHS standards, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Experience translating business and technical requirements into data strategies and analytic solutions.
• Experience with AI/ML tools, NLP, data provenance, LLMs/RAG, or deep learning.
