Lead Trade Compliance Specialist

Location: Stockholm, Sweden; based at the Stockholm Head Office.

What you will do

• Act as the global subject matter expert for import and export controls, sanctions, customs audits, and international trade compliance.
• Lead EU and Swedish compliance strategies, product classification, country-of-origin declarations, customs valuation, and denied-party screening.
• Align compliance policies, documentation, and classification practices across EMEA, the Americas, and APJ.
• Design and govern importer-of-record solutions, Incoterms 2020 practices, shipping documentation, export filings, and customs declarations.
• Create global trade compliance SOPs, work instructions, FAQs, and training programmes for Operations, Sales, Legal, and Supply Chain.
• Lead WEEE/EPR compliance, support AEO and ISO standards, and integrate compliance tools and automated screening into ERP systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of dedicated hands-on experience in global trade compliance, export controls, and international customs management within a multinational technology or hardware environment.
• Expert knowledge of EU customs laws, Swedish export regulations, US EAR, CBP rules, and general APJ import frameworks.
• Advanced mastery of HS/HTS classification, ECCN assignment, Incoterms 2020, customs valuation for hardware and licence bundling, AES filings, and importer-of-record operational setups.
• Experience overseeing WEEE/EPR environmental directives, AEO, and ISO standards.
• Ability to influence cross-regionally and establish uniform compliance processes across distributed EMEA, Americas, and APJ teams.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex customs delays, broker inquiries, and regulatory holds.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Law, Logistics, or a related field.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Nice to have

• Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Export Specialist, or equivalent trade certification.
• Proficiency in Swedish for local regulatory interactions.
