Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Test & R&D)

What you will do

• Design mechanical test beds and integrated test systems for component, subsystem, and system-level testing.
• Develop structures, mechanisms, fixtures, mounts, enclosures, motion systems, and equipment interfaces.
• Integrate mechanical hardware with sensors, actuators, motors, instrumentation, electrical systems, and controls.
• Design environmental test fixtures for vibration, thermal, vacuum, thermal-vacuum, shock, and qualification testing.
• Design CNC workholding, inspection fixtures, GSE, lifting fixtures, handling carts, assembly stands, and specialized support equipment.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and manufacturing documentation, taking concepts through fabrication, assembly, testing, and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience.
• Experience designing hardware for CNC machining, welding, fabrication, and/or additive manufacturing.
• Experience with 3D CAD, detailed manufacturing drawings, mechanical design principles, GD&T, tolerancing, materials, fasteners, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work across CAD, manufacturing, instrumentation, controls, and the test floor, including interaction with CNC and fabrication equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work safely around industrial equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, automotive, robotics, advanced manufacturing, or another complex hardware environment.
• Experience with mechatronics test systems, automated test equipment, environmental testing, GSE, CNC workholding, or rapid prototyping.
• Experience with structural, FEA, thermal, vacuum, or cryogenic analysis.
• Familiarity with test instrumentation, aerospace materials, ASME Y14.5, aerospace drawing standards, and environmental qualification testing.
