Tech Lead (.NET)

Location: Sydney, Australia; hybrid with three days per week in the Sydney office.

What you will do

• Line-manage engineers through regular 1:1s, performance management, career development, coaching, and feedback.
• Set technical direction, break down work, remove blockers, and maintain delivery momentum.
• Stay 70–80% hands-on by building backend services, APIs, and Angular interfaces used by operators and guests.
• Partner with product managers and designers from discovery through release, challenging both technical approaches and user experience decisions.
• Participate in interview panels and help grow the Sydney engineering team.
• Work with SRE to monitor system performance and proactively identify production issues.

Requirements

• Six-plus years of software engineering experience, including experience as a tech lead, lead engineer, or the go-to senior engineer on a squad, with an interest in line-managing people.
• Deep backend experience with C# and .NET, plus enough frontend experience to work comfortably across the stack.
• Deep knowledge of cloud patterns, application performance, and database performance, with experience applying them to varying workflows and workloads.
• Experience leading a production incident through the post-mortem and fix.
• Experience mentoring engineers and an interest in developing people.
• Ability to challenge product decisions when the user experience is not right.
• High interest in technology and AI, curiosity about how it can transform work, and comfort using AI tools to automate repetitive work.
• Willingness to work with .NET day to day; experience primarily in Java, Go, Kotlin, or Python may also be considered.
