Salary: $104,000–$163,000 per year for Engineer II; $129,000–$202,000 per year for Senior Engineer.

Company

hirify.global develops autonomy systems, Hivemind SDK tools, HMIs, and related products for operational and customer applications.

What you will do

  • Build expertise with the Hivemind SDK and autonomy modules, including Forge and Commander, and use them as a developer and customer would.
  • Elicit developer, operator, and customer needs through knowledge elicitation, applied human factors, and front-end analysis.
  • Translate needs into implementable SDK and HMI design and development requirements, acceptance criteria, and evaluation methods.
  • Review designs, architecture decisions, delivered tools, code, and systems against HMT requirements; document gaps and recommend remedies.
  • Maintain guidance, documentation, training materials, and traceability from operational needs through requirements, acceptance, and robustness testing.
  • Work with engineering teams on implementation, integration, API issues, design trade-offs, field events, operator engagements, and customer projects.

Requirements

  • Engineer II: typically at least 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 0 years with a Master's degree, or a PhD without experience. Senior Engineer: typically 3–5 years with a Bachelor's degree, 2–4 years with a Master's degree, 2 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with a minor in human factors engineering, cognitive systems engineering, or human-computer interaction.
  • Hands-on software development experience sufficient to assess feasibility and cost and read relevant code and interfaces.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, plus familiarity with at least one other relevant language or tool such as JavaScript, C#, HTML, CSS, or Docker.
  • Experience eliciting user needs, translating them into engineering requirements, and assessing whether delivered systems meet them.
  • Working knowledge of human-machine teaming and human factors, including collaborative work requirements and operator-autonomy interaction.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers, human factors practitioners, designers, operators, and customer audiences in multidisciplinary and ambiguous environments and produce clear, structured artifacts.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice to have

  • Applications, integration, or solutions engineering experience between customers and product engineering.
  • Experience with autonomy, robotics, simulation software, and build, simulation, or test toolchains.
  • Hands-on experience with human-machine teaming, MUM-T, human-robot interaction, or applied AI in mission autonomy applications such as UAV Groups 3–5.
  • Experience with mission planning, C2, battle management, ground control stations, or HMIs.
  • Developer-experience research, developer productivity measurement, or qualitative studies of engineering work.
  • Familiarity with Git, GitLab, CI/CD, cloud-native development, traceability methods, or AI assurance frameworks.
  • Willingness to use agentic AI to accelerate product development.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work directly with SDK, HMI, product, design, experimentation, and operations teams.
  • Support field events, operator engagements, demonstrations, testing, and customer projects.
  • Travel is required for project work, approximately 40% of the time.
