Senior Software Engineer (Medtech)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with commuting to London required 2 to 3 days per week.

Salary: GBP 76,800–115,200 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan short-term incentive.

What you will do

• Own backend and services delivery from design through production.
• Lead and contribute to technical design for complex features, services, and components.
• Write high-quality Python code and participate actively in code reviews.
• Improve testing, observability, reliability, maintainability, and engineering standards.
• Identify risks, define mitigation strategies, and navigate ambiguity while driving pragmatic solutions.
• Collaborate with product, systems, QA, clinical/domain, and engineering partners; provide technical mentorship and create clear architecture and handover documentation.

Requirements

• Backend or systems engineering experience, preferably with strong Python proficiency.
• Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in production, including architectural trade-offs involving performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, databases, APIs, and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong focus on quality assurance, including testing strategies, code review practices, and system reliability.
• Ability to own substantial backend or systems work from design through production, surface risks early, drive pragmatic solutions, and take accountability for quality and maintainability.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, make progress with incomplete information, break down complex problems, and adapt as requirements evolve.
• Excellent documentation and knowledge-transfer skills for project handovers.
• Willingness to commute to London 2 to 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Product experience with AI-assisted or agentic coding tools.
• Good judgment around code review, testing, and responsible use of generated code.
