Data Scientist (US)

Location: Remote within the United States; hiring is available in every U.S. state except the District of Columbia

Salary: $125,000–$135,000 annual base salary

What you will do

• Own data science projects from problem framing and method selection through modeling, validation, and presenting results.
• Build and maintain predictive models, analytical pipelines, certified data products, scores, and features using Python or R, SQL, dbt, and Databricks.
• Design, run, and interpret experiments, including hypothesis formulation, sizing, and evaluation of inconclusive results.
• Help define the data science roadmap and prioritize work based on measurable effects on churn, usage, and revenue.
• Partner with embedded analysts and the Data Platform team to drive adoption, validate data quality, and improve upstream data reliability.
• Mentor analysts, contribute to code reviews and standards, and maintain reproducible documentation.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of professional experience in data science, applied statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Independent ownership of projects from ambiguous requests through delivered results.
• Strong SQL and fluency in Python or R.
• Solid knowledge of statistics and experimental design, including test limitations.
• Ability to prioritize work according to measurable business impact and communicate technical results to non-technical audiences.
• Must be based in the United States; the District of Columbia is excluded.

Nice to have

• Experience working as the only or one of very few data scientists on a team.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and dbt.
• Exposure to production ML systems, recommendation engines, or MLOps.
• Experience in subscription or SaaS businesses, especially churn, retention, and usage analytics.
• Familiarity with data mesh or distributed analytics models.
