Network Engineer (SONiC)

Location: Remote from Ukraine

hirify.global provides engineering and technology services for a US-based database company operating bare-metal infrastructure.

What you will do

• Support migration from AWS to a private cloud data center, including VPC and Direct Connect networking.
• Design and automate physical network deployments using SONiC, gNMI/YANG, SWSS, ZTP, monitoring integrations, and code-driven configuration.
• Build in-band and out-of-band spine-leaf networks with L2, MCLAG, LAG, BGP, BFD, VXLAN/VNI, VRF, ACLs, DHCP, BMC, and PDU access.
• Remediate Palo Alto firewall configuration, Direct Connect multipath, NAT, routing, security policies, and packet-drop issues.
• Build the OpenGear console network with FRR routing, SSH serial access, standardized firmware and credentials, and cellular fallback.
• Coordinate with client engineering, DevOps, colocation, and network vendor teams on infrastructure implementation and connectivity issues.

Requirements

• Remote work from Ukraine.
• Hands-on AWS networking experience with VPC and Direct Connect.
• Datacenter experience with SONiC programmatic configuration using gNMI/YANG and SWSS; Cisco or Juniper experience may also be considered.
• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, firewall troubleshooting, and security policy design.
• Python or Go scripting and automation experience, plus Linux administration, Bash, and systemd skills.
• Working proficiency in English is required for ongoing communication with a US-based client.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenGear devices and FRR.
• Familiarity with virtual networking, VXLAN, and SONiC base configuration.
• Systems programming experience with C, C++, or Rust.
