Forward Deployed Engineer (Applied AI)

Location: In-person 5–6 days a week in Gallup, New Mexico; Michigan; Missouri; San Francisco; or West Virginia, United States. Regular client travel is required.

What you will do

• Work directly with users and internal teams to identify high-leverage problems and turn insights into product solutions.
• Write production code for approximately 50% of the role and ship weekly improvements across the customer journey.
• Build and deploy AI-powered tools that reduce manual work and improve experiences for providers, parents, and government partners.
• Automate onboarding, proposal generation, reporting, and other operational workflows.
• Own the full delivery loop: user discovery, solution design, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and adoption.
• Prioritize initiatives by business impact and collaborate with sales, onboarding, and account management to improve conversion, retention, revenue, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Experience building products that acquired users, generating revenue independently, or starting a company.
• Ability to speak with users regularly and translate insights into product decisions.
• Ability to ship production code independently using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Experience using AI and LLMs, plus developer tools such as Windsurf and Cursor.
• Business judgment and the ability to prioritize based on return on investment, with experience in consulting, P&L management, or business education.
• Ability to work in person 5–6 days per week and travel regularly to clients.
