Gap Year Software Engineer (AI)

Location: In person in San Francisco or New York

hirify.global builds an AI revenue engine for essential service businesses in North America, helping customers book jobs through AI-first products.

What you will do

• Design, code, and ship full-stack features for hirify.global’s AI platform.
• Work directly with customers, including on-site, to understand workflows, gather feedback, and turn pain points into product features.
• Own projects from specification through production, including data models, APIs, frontend development, and post-launch iteration.
• Build, test, and monitor production features for reliability and performance.
• Participate in sales calls and leadership meetings to learn how a fast-growing startup wins customers, makes decisions, and builds a team.
• Develop relationships with board members, investors, founders, and technology leaders.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in college and able to take a full year off before returning to finish the degree.
• Commitment to 12 months of full-time, in-person work in San Francisco or New York.
• Experience shipping real projects end-to-end through school, internships, hackathons, or independent work.
• Full-stack foundations with React, TypeScript, and Python, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Strong customer empathy and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to engineers and product decisions to customers.
• Interest in starting a company and learning how products, teams, and businesses are built.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, embeddings, or RAG patterns.
