Land Development Project Manager, Senior or Staff (BESS)

Salary: $160,000–$252,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Prepare RFPs and lead land use and development due diligence for early-phase BESS projects in the United States.
• Manage external consultants, scopes, budgets, resources, schedules, and deliverables from site screening through handoff to detailed design.
• Analyze title, survey, environmental, jurisdictional, geotechnical, hydrology, drainage, floodplain, easement, and subsurface information to establish site constraints and developable areas.
• Coordinate environmental review under NEPA and applicable state acts, including wetlands, endangered species, and cultural-resource requirements.
• Drive zoning, conditional and special use permits, site plan and design review, variances, grading, stormwater, and other local entitlements.
• Coordinate water, sewer, fiber, agency, community, and stakeholder activities, then deliver feasibility studies, constraints registers, and the land use and development Basis of Design package.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, planning, or a related field, or equivalent exceptional experience.
• At least 5 years of experience for Senior level or 8 years for Staff level in energy project development, land use, and entitlement.
• Working knowledge of grid-scale BESS site development, including footprint, setbacks, fire and life-safety separation, access, and balance-of-plant siting.
• Experience with surveys, geotechnical investigations, hydrology, drainage, floodplain studies, environmental permitting, entitlement processes, and permit matrices.
• Experience selecting and managing survey, geotechnical, environmental, and civil consultants, including scopes, budgets, and deliverable reviews.
• Strong project management, communication, prioritization, analytical, agency-submittal, and stakeholder-outreach skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with BESS and utility-scale solar projects.
• Civil or environmental engineering background.
• PE, AICP, or comparable professional credential.
• Passion for sustainability and energy-transition infrastructure.
