TL;DR
Staff Engineer, Fuel Systems - Ranger (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, testing, and fielding aircraft fuel systems for Project Ranger with an accent on thermofluid performance, hardware ownership, and flight operations. Focus on analyzing transient flow, cavitation, elevated-G maneuvering, thermal effects, and flight-test data while driving failure investigations and corrective actions.
Location: On-site in Seattle, Washington, United States
Company
hirify.global develops AI-enabled aerospace systems, including next-generation aircraft platforms.
What you will do
Serve as the Responsible Engineer for the Project Ranger aircraft fuel system from requirements and architecture through operational deployment.
Design and integrate fuel tanks, pumps, valves, plumbing, venting, pressurization, filtration, level sensing, and related hardware.
Analyze fuel-system performance across demanding aircraft conditions, including transient engine demand, elevated-G maneuvering, tank depletion, slosh, cavitation, vapor ingestion, and thermal effects.
Lead design reviews, supplier engagements, procurement, component and vehicle-level testing, instrumentation, and flight-readiness activities.
Analyze ground and flight data, quantify performance margins, identify anomalies, and drive system improvements.
Lead failure investigations and work hands-on with propulsion, airframe, manufacturing, test, flight, supply-chain, and controls teams.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
At least 7 years of experience in aerospace fuel systems, fluid systems, propulsion, or related aircraft-system development.
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, compressible and incompressible flow, and aerospace fuel-system design.
Hands-on experience with fluid-system hardware integration, instrumentation, testing, flight support, and technical failure investigations.
Strong proficiency in Python or similar engineering-analysis tools.
U.S. citizenship and an active security clearance are required.
Nice to have
Experience with fuel systems for high-performance aircraft, tactical aircraft, UAVs, or similar aerospace platforms.
Experience with elevated-G maneuvering, aggressive vehicle dynamics, or challenging fuel-delivery conditions.
Familiarity with GFSSP, REFPROP, CFD, ANSYS, FEA, or similar thermal-fluid analysis tools.
Experience working with aerospace suppliers through component selection, procurement, qualification, and integration.
Rocket propulsion or propellant-systems experience, or an M.S. or Ph.D. in a related engineering discipline.
Culture & Benefits
Hands-on work in an accelerated aircraft-development environment.
Cross-functional collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, testing, and flight operations.
Ownership of meaningful aerospace capability from concept through operational fielding.
