Manufacturing Technical Writer (Contract Assignment)

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota, United States. Onsite manufacturing work involving extended periods on the production floor and occasional clean-room access.

What you will do

• Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions, SOPs, inspection procedures, specifications, protocols, reports, and other controlled documents.
• Observe engineering, development, pilot-build, and production activities and translate processes into clear, operator-focused documentation.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Training, technicians, operators, and subject matter experts.
• Review and standardize existing documentation, identify gaps, and resolve inconsistencies.
• Support new product introduction, process development, manufacturing excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Track documentation projects and maintain compliance through document control systems and established procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, Communications, English, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience as a Technical Writer in a manufacturing, engineering, or technology-driven environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing documentation, build notes, test data, and supplier information.
• Experience creating and maintaining controlled documents and simplifying complex technical information into actionable instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and document management systems; familiarity with ERP/MES systems and regulated documentation is preferred.
