Senior Hardware / Software Installation Technician

Location: US-Remote with travel; must be able to travel 90% of the time on CONUS and potentially OCONUS deployments

What you will do

• Lead physical site surveys at military installations, validating power, space, cooling, connectivity, cabling, and infrastructure readiness.
• Prepare Site Survey Reports, Installation Design Plans, floor plans, rack elevation diagrams, power calculations, and Bills of Materials.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, crypto devices, UPS units, operating systems, firmware, and related software.
• Apply Windows/Linux system baselines and STIGs, conduct burn-in testing, and validate systems before acceptance.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, the PMO, government contacts, and site customers to resolve field issues and manage installation activities.
• Maintain engineering drawings, daily status updates, After Action Reports, safety compliance, and required training records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or Engineering, or 6+ years of relevant field experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware/software integration and structured cabling, including DoD or federal site surveys.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio, network diagrams, rack elevations, power requirements, UPS sizing, BTU calculations, and NEMA plugs.
• Knowledge of fiber-optic and copper cabling standards, including single-mode, multi-mode, and CAT6.
• Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret preferred.
• Ability to travel 90% of the time and lift or carry equipment up to 50 lbs, including work in confined spaces.

Nice to have

• US Army Signal Brigade, DISA, or DoDIN network installation and modernization experience.
• CAD information technology experience.
• BICSI Technician or RCDD certification.
