Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Base salary: CA$146,000–CA$219,000 annually. Total target compensation: CA$160,600–CA$240,900 annually. Equity: US$170,000–US$500,000 in RSUs.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and ship AI-powered features and services for model inference, AI functions, retrieval systems, and intelligent applications.
• Build production infrastructure for AI workloads, including model serving, embedding pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI-driven automation.
• Write clean, performant, and well-tested code in Python, Java, C++, or Go for enterprise-scale multi-cloud systems.
• Collaborate with ML researchers, engineers, and product managers to turn research and product requirements into scalable solutions.
• Participate in system design, architectural reviews, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building production systems.
• Strong foundations in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Production experience with AI/ML systems such as model serving, inference pipelines, LLM integration, embedding systems, or AI-powered applications.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or Go.
• Experience building distributed systems or cloud-native services, with an understanding of scale, reliability, and performance in multi-cloud environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and end-to-end ownership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM inference, fine-tuning, RAG architectures, or vector search at production scale.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar ML frameworks.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Background in data platforms, data warehousing, or SQL-based systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, production monitoring, observability, open-source AI/ML projects, or published research.
