Software Engineer II, User Targeting (Ruby/React)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $104,400–$176,040 annually for candidates based in the United States; expected OTE of $116,000–$195,600 annually, including bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Design and implement segmentation features across a Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend, from design review through production rollout.
• Own medium-sized projects by breaking down work, setting delivery dates, and delivering against them.
• Write and tune queries against MongoDB and ClickHouse while evaluating segmentation performance and cost at scale.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliver customer-focused features.
• Write automated tests, review code, and participate in the on-call rotation to maintain system stability.
• Use AI-assisted tools to navigate the Ruby monolith, create proofs of concept, and accelerate product delivery.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications, full-stack products, or backend services.
• Solid understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with SQL and at least one production database.
• Ability to turn ambiguous feature requests into working, tested code with limited oversight.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with experience working effectively in teams.
• Work from the New York City location in a hybrid environment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq, and SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or other data lake solutions.
• Experience working on high-scale, high-throughput systems.
• Passion for customer experience.
