Research Associate, Consumer (Equity Research)

Location: Boston, MA, United States; employees work from the office four days a week with flexibility to work remotely one day a week.

What you will do

• Support a senior Global Industry Analyst in researching the consumer staples sector and broader consumer industries.
• Maintain industry, comparative valuation, and company financial models covering revenue growth, margins, pricing, market share, inventory, working capital, and cash flow.
• Assess category growth, competitive positioning, brand strength, consumer demand, pricing power, distribution strategy, and execution risk.
• Analyze company results, industry and consumer datasets, point-of-sale and channel data, web traffic, app engagement, foot traffic, and supply chain indicators.
• Perform ongoing due diligence, identify investment opportunities and risks, and contribute to long and short investment ideas.
• Execute complex analytical projects using alternative data, AI, and other technology tools under tight time constraints.

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant investment or equity research experience.
• Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including experience analyzing revenue drivers, margins, market share, unit economics, working capital, cash flow, and balance sheets.
• Strong data and technology skills, including experience using AI and tools to screen, rank, and analyze large stock universes.
• Ability to analyze consumer, industry, macroeconomic, competitive, operational, financial, and alternative datasets.
• Strong written and verbal communication, judgment, organization, attention to detail, independence, and collaboration skills.
• An undergraduate degree is required; relevant fields include business, economics, finance, accounting, data science, marketing, and statistics.

Nice to have

• Experience analyzing consumer staples, consumer discretionary, retail, brands, restaurants, leisure, or related consumer companies.
• Progress toward CFA or CAIA credentials.
