Software Engineer I (AI)

Location: Plano, Texas, United States; hybrid or in-office work required

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain AI tools and automations that solve business problems.
• Work directly with business users to understand workflows, identify pain points, and gather requirements.
• Build prototypes, iterate based on user feedback, and support adoption.
• Debug software issues and maintain code documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, participate in code reviews, and support integration with existing business systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–2+ years of software development experience.
• Basic proficiency in C++, Java, or Python, with proficiency in Python or a similar language for AI and automation development.
• Understanding of engineering principles and software development practices.
• Ability to work directly with non-engineering stakeholders and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. government authorizations.

Nice to have

• Internship or cooperative education experience in software development.
• Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, scripting, and API integration.
• Exposure to large language models, chatbots, workflow automation, or process automation platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, or Spiral methodologies, data structures, and software development tooling.
• Experience presenting software to non-technical stakeholders or learning aerospace and defense processes.
