Engineering Lead (Finance & Internal Tools)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands with hybrid attendance 2–3 days per week, or remote elsewhere in EMEA with CET overlap and occasional visits to Amsterdam

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, performance management, and development plans.
• Own delivery of the team roadmap and quarterly goals with Product, Operations, and Finance.
• Run planning, refinement, retrospectives, and cross-team communication.
• Maintain high standards for code review, testing, monitoring, security, and incident follow-up.
• Hire engineers and collaborate with senior leadership and the team’s Product Manager.
• Spend approximately 30–40% of the time on code reviews, technical design, and hands-on engineering.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 1–2 years managing engineers with direct reports.
• Experience handling performance issues, setting expectations, giving difficult feedback, and supporting struggling employees.
• Ability to switch between directing and coaching and confidently communicate with senior stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with modern web technologies including PHP, Laravel, Node, React, Filament, and MySQL; expertise in every listed technology is not required.
• Experience delivering B2B web products end to end and working with non-technical colleagues.
• Clear written and spoken English required; Dutch is not required.

Nice to have

• FinTech or finance and billing systems experience, including invoicing, order-to-cash, tax, accounting, or ERP integrations such as Exact or QuickBooks.
• Experience with Laravel Filament, other admin-panel tools, or migrating internal tools from low-code platforms such as Retool.
• Experience building LLM features or AI agents for internal operations.
• Scale-up experience, preferably in B2B SaaS, logistics, or operations.
