General Manager (Fitness)

Location: St Helens, England, United Kingdom; onsite at the fitness club, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays when required.

What you will do

• Take full ownership of the club's daily operation, performance and profitability.
• Recruit, develop and retain colleagues while building a culture of accountability and high performance.
• Drive membership growth, retention, secondary spend, revenue and commercial decision-making.
• Deliver welcoming member experiences and maintain high standards across the gym floor and club.
• Oversee operational processes, presentation, cleanliness, safety, cost control and company initiatives.
• Manage health and safety, regulatory compliance, risk and pool plant operations where applicable.

Requirements

• At least one year of management experience in fitness, leisure, hospitality or retail.
• Experience leading and developing successful teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and a record of achieving business targets.
• Excellent communication, leadership, analytical and customer experience skills.
• Positive, resilient and solutions-focused approach with the ability to improve performance using data.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays when required.

Nice to have

• Experience in a fitness or leisure environment.
• Level 2 Fitness Qualification.
• Knowledge of membership sales, retention and club operations.
• Pool plant and health and safety experience.
