Head of Accounting Operations (NetSuite)

Location: Hybrid role based in Berlin, with 2 set days per week in the Berlin office and regular remote working. Collaboration spans Europe, the US, and Asia, requiring flexibility around time zones.

What you will do

• Own monthly and year-end close across all legal entities, including close calendars, checklists, reviews, sign-offs, and cross-time-zone handovers.
• Review entity and consolidated financial statements, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany balances, and IFRS consolidation in NetSuite.
• Manage inventory accounting, AP, AR, marketplace settlements, wholesale receivables, credit control, bad-debt provisioning, and indirect tax reporting.
• Lead and develop the accounting operations team while remaining hands-on with technical accounting, NetSuite, and close activities.
• Strengthen financial controls, accounting policies, SOPs, audit documentation, and year-round audit readiness.
• Coordinate external and tax audits, including PBC deliverables, auditor requests, deadlines, and resolution of findings.

Requirements

• Approximately 8 or more years of accounting experience, including ownership or leadership of multi-entity, multi-currency month-end close.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and practical experience with group consolidation, management accounting, reconciliations, and financial controls.
• Experience leading and developing accounting teams while working directly with auditors and senior stakeholders.
• Experience with AP and AR processes, marketplace settlement reconciliation, and preferably inventory accounting.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, or Bilanzbuchhalter/in, or an equivalent accounting or finance degree and experience.
• Fluent English required; German is a plus. NetSuite, confident Excel skills, and AI tools such as Claude are advantageous.

Nice to have

• Experience in e-commerce or consumer goods.
• Experience with Tipalti, Ramp, NetSuite, and marketplace platforms including Amazon, Shopify, TikTok Shop, and Walmart.
• German language skills and experience using AI tools for accounting operations.
