Applications Engineering Manager (Ethernet)

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Travel within the US and to Asia is required.

Salary: $158,400–$230,000 per year, depending on experience, level, and business need. Discretionary bonus, incentives, and benefits may also apply.

What you will do

• Lead a team of product applications engineers supporting customer evaluation and deployment of Taurus Ethernet Signal Conditioners and Smart Cable Modules.
• Deliver technical presentations, product training, demonstrations, and enablement for customer engineering teams.
• Lead root cause analysis, lab bring-up, characterization, validation, and debugging of Ethernet physical-layer and link issues.
• Develop test plans, application notes, integration guides, best practices, datasheets, and user documentation.
• Partner with product management, engineering, and sales to translate customer feedback into product requirements and roadmap priorities.
• Build relationships with hyperscalers, OEMs, AI system builders, and enterprise data center customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical support, or system engineering.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and BER test tools.
• Experience debugging high-speed serial interfaces and signal integrity challenges.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts.
• Ability to work in San Jose, California, United States and travel within the US and to Asia.

Nice to have

• Understanding of Ethernet physical-layer specifications from 200G through 1.6T.
• Experience with optical modules, active cables, or similar high-speed connectivity components.
• Familiarity with AI/ML architectures, GPU clusters, or data center networking.
• Signal integrity analysis and simulation experience.
• Python or TCL scripting for test automation and data analysis.
