Security Software Engineer (DevSecOps)

Location: Hybrid in London, Salford, Glasgow or Newcastle, United Kingdom. Eligibility to work in the UK is required.

Salary: up to £57,500 per year, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

What you will do

• Build backend services, integrations, automation and internal engineering tools connecting security, engineering and organisational data.
• Work with AWS infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code to deliver and operate secure cloud services.
• Integrate dependency scanning, code scanning, secrets detection, container security and infrastructure security into CI/CD workflows.
• Apply secure engineering practices covering identity and access management, secrets, logging, monitoring, data handling and least-privilege access.
• Investigate issues across services, integrations, cloud infrastructure and security platforms, implementing fixes and operational tooling.
• Deliver engineering changes from implementation through testing and deployment, collaborating with senior engineers and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Experience building, maintaining and operating software services, integrations, automation or engineering tooling with a modern programming language.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, Infrastructure as Code, automated software delivery and CI/CD.
• Understanding of APIs, authentication, access control, secrets management, monitoring and software security best practices.
• Ability to investigate unfamiliar systems and deliver practical solutions with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Experience with source control and automated testing, plus clear communication of technical decisions within engineering teams.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with vulnerability management, application security, cloud security and security tooling.
• Experience with serverless, container-based, event-driven or microservice architectures.
• Experience building integrations with APIs, webhooks and event-driven technologies.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, alerting, incident investigation and operational support.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and contributing to shared engineering platforms.
