Engineering Director, Payments Platform (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, Singapore, or the United Kingdom

Salary: $237K–$407K base pay annually, plus potential equity and bonus

What you will do

• Own the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Payments Platform, including payment processing, routing, settlement, reconciliation, and partner integrations.
• Lead, coach, and grow Engineering Managers and senior technical talent across multiple engineering squads.
• Set architectural standards for high-volume payment systems, covering reliability, observability, security, scalability, and developer productivity.
• Drive execution across multiple initiatives through clear OKRs, operational rigor, and sustainable platform investments.
• Partner with Product, Commercial, Risk, Compliance, and regional engineering leaders to align platform capabilities with business and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership roles.
• Experience managing Engineering Managers or Engineering Leads and building high-performing teams.
• Strong product thinking and experience partnering with Product Management on roadmaps, prioritization, and business outcomes.
• Deep expertise in software architecture, system design, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with a focus on ownership and execution speed.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, payments, or another regulated industry where correctness and data integrity are critical.
