Software Engineer (Account Security) (Roblox/Safety): Building systems that prevent, detect, and mitigate account takeovers across Roblox with an accent on account protection, user safety, and end-to-end development. Focus on modeling suspicious activity, securing credentials and devices, detecting malware and asset laundering, and using experimentation and AI-powered tools to improve protection.
Location: San Mateo, California, United States. Office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.
Salary: $182,170–$227,370 USD base pay annually, plus potential equity compensation and benefits.

What you will do
- Design, implement, and launch features that prevent, detect, and mitigate account takeovers.
- Build account security solutions across the Roblox technical stack, including suspicious-activity modeling, credential-device binding, malware detection, and asset-laundering prevention.
- Collaborate with InfoSec, Economy, User, Product, and Roblox Safety teams to define requirements and product direction.
- Instrument and analyze user interaction data, A/B tests, and usage metrics to guide design decisions and measure impact.
- Develop end-to-end solutions in Go, Python, TypeScript, and Lua, using AI tools where appropriate.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering or computer science.
- Experience developing user-facing applications or services.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product stakeholders to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Commitment to building and maintaining systems that prioritize user safety, data integrity, and compliance with safety policies.
- For US-based roles, certain US visa categories may not be supported, and future H-1B sponsorship may not be available.
