Principal Engineer - Consumer & Merchant Experience

Location: Warsaw, Cracow, or remote in Poland

What you will do

• Define architectural standards, engineering principles, and technology standards across the organization.
• Identify and resolve systemic technical challenges across multiple domains and teams.
• Shape the long-term technology strategy, including the use of AI and large language models.
• Lead cross-team and cross-domain technical initiatives while supporting modernization away from legacy solutions.
• Mentor Staff Engineers and help develop the next generation of technical leaders.
• Support technical due diligence for strategic partnerships and M&A, and represent the organization in the engineering community.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years of technical impact beyond a single team in a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect, or equivalent role.
• Experience making long-term architectural decisions across multiple teams and influencing customer-facing products.
• Strong knowledge of scalability, reliability, observability, APIs, system integration, public cloud, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience using and critically evaluating AI tools and large language models in professional workflows.
• Professional English proficiency at C1 level and availability to work in Poland or remotely from Poland.

Nice to have

• Experience in logistics, e-commerce, or marketplace environments.
• Experience with on-premises-to-cloud migrations and large-scale mobile or web applications.
• Knowledge of security, data protection, payment, notification, tracking, event-driven, or real-time systems.
• Cloud certifications, such as GCP Professional Cloud Architect.
