Staff Engineer, Software - GenAI

Location: Oak Brook, Illinois, United States; remote work available from California. Travel of up to 10% domestically and internationally may be required.

Salary: $126,198–$215,291 base pay per year, plus benefits, 401(k) contribution, and eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Architect and build LLM-powered agents that integrate with external tools, APIs, and real-world systems.
• Develop AI features including video search, chatbot interfaces, AI-generated insights, backend pipelines, and APIs.
• Design multi-agent architectures with role-based coordination, reasoning, planning, and long-term memory.
• Build, test, and optimize agent pipelines using LangChain, LangGraph, CAMEL, and related orchestration frameworks.
• Drive infrastructure, observability, scalability, production readiness, coding standards, and engineering workflows.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and AI research teams while mentoring engineers in AI-native architecture and development patterns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years working with LLMs or agentic AI systems.
• Proven experience building LLM-powered agents that interact with external tools and APIs.
• Strong Python programming and production software development experience.
• Experience with agent orchestration, multi-agent coordination, RAG, memory systems, vector databases, API-driven tools, and distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud-native development, MLOps, model deployment pipelines, and modern backend technologies such as Node.js and REST/gRPC APIs.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI infrastructure, prompt engineering, or LLM fine-tuning.
• Background in autonomous systems, virtual assistants, cognitive agents, video intelligence, or computer vision.
• Experience in IoT, software services, video, AI, consumer electronics, or smart home products.
