Software Engineer, Test Frameworks & Tooling (AI)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States. Office-based roles require onsite presence Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $153,120–$196,750 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and scale test automation frameworks, runners, orchestration services, workflow integrations, and supporting infrastructure.
• Develop AI-powered tooling for test authoring, selection, execution, maintenance, and failure triage.
• Build systems connecting test planning, execution, and failure analysis to provide faster feedback.
• Improve test stability, observability, debugging, failure diagnosis, and maintenance across the test ecosystem.
• Integrate automated quality checks and actionable test feedback into development and CI/CD workflows.
• Own technical initiatives from problem definition and design through production deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement while collaborating across engineering teams.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience building large-scale backend or infrastructure systems.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as C#, Go, or Python.
• Ability to solve open-ended technical problems, understand complex systems, and drive solutions collaboratively.
• Strong cross-functional and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Long-term mindset and willingness to build and improve systems over time.
• For US-based roles, candidates must have eligible United States work authorization; certain visa categories may not be supported and future H-1B sponsorship may be unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-QPS, low-latency systems.
• Experience working on infrastructure or performance-critical backend systems.
