Head of Engineering

Location: On-site in San Francisco or New York City, USA

Salary: $250,000–$400,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Partner directly with the founders to shape company and product strategy and translate it into engineering priorities.
• Scale the engineering organization from roughly 10 to 50 engineers by attracting, recruiting, developing, and retaining high-caliber talent.
• Develop and launch major new product lines beyond the core documentation platform.
• Set priorities across product, platform, and infrastructure engineering.
• Improve engineering velocity, reliability, and the technical foundation supporting enterprise-scale growth.

Requirements

• Experience scaling an engineering organization from roughly 10 to 50 engineers at an early-stage company.
• Hands-on technical credibility across modern backend systems, cloud infrastructure, platform architecture, and systems at scale.
• Strong experience identifying, recruiting, developing, and retaining engineers.
• Experience owning a product line end to end and connecting engineering decisions to customer needs and business outcomes.
• High-agency, first-principles leadership with comfort operating in ambiguity and giving direct feedback.
