Principal Data Analyst - Transportation Strategy & Optimization

Location: Onsite in Bentonville, Arkansas, United States of America

Annual salary: $90,000–$180,000, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead ambiguous, cross-functional transportation and operational problems from investigation through implementation and measurement.
• Identify root causes, challenge assumptions, reframe questions, and connect analysis to operational, financial, customer, and organizational outcomes.
• Partner with operations, product, technology, data science, and senior leadership to shape priorities and influence decisions.
• Apply advanced analytics, automation, AI, and operational knowledge to test hypotheses, evaluate tradeoffs, and develop actionable recommendations.
• Design scalable analytical solutions and decision frameworks using SQL, Python, visualization platforms, cloud data environments, and AI.
• Mentor analysts, serve as a thought leader, and strengthen analytical capabilities across teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Arts, Finance, or a related field plus 4 years of experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or a related field; or
• Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Information Technology plus 2 years of relevant experience; or
• 6 years of experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or a related field.
• Strong critical thinking, business and analytical judgment, strategic ownership, stakeholder leadership, technical and AI fluency, and cross-functional impact.
• Ability to understand operational processes, identify overlooked opportunities, thrive in ambiguity, and determine the right problems to solve.
• Ability to independently shape priorities, lead initiatives across organizational boundaries, communicate clearly with senior leaders, and drive adoption without positional authority.
• Ability to use data and AI responsibly to develop and validate recommendations.

Nice to have

• Experience in data science, data analysis, statistics, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in a relevant business, technical, mathematics, analytics, or information technology discipline.
• Related industry experience, such as retail, merchandising, healthcare, or ecommerce.
• Successful completion of assessments in data analysis and business intelligence tools or scripting languages such as SQL, Python, Spark, Scala, R, Power BI, or Tableau.
