Senior Manager, Portfolio Planning & Team Operations

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; the role is also associated with the foundation's Washington, D.C. office locations. Unrestricted work authorization in the United States is required.

Salary: $190,100–$294,700 USD annually. The range for Seattle and Washington, D.C. is $209,100–$324,100 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead business operations, operating rhythms, budget planning, resourcing, and portfolio-wide performance tracking for the Exemplars in Global Health team.
• Develop and manage a research project pipeline, including investment planning, execution, forecasting, and performance reporting.
• Build systems and processes that improve portfolio efficiency, consistency, decision-making, and alignment with strategic goals.
• Provide strategic analysis, second-order insights, risk identification, and resource allocation guidance to program leadership.
• Manage and develop Program Coordinator and Program Assistant teams while supporting organizational design, workflow, and team dynamics.
• Partner with program leadership, SPA, and culture groups to strengthen team operations, inclusive culture, talent development, and accountability.

Requirements

• Advanced degree or equivalent demonstrated experience, preferably in public health or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic business operations and/or research portfolio management, including research project pipeline management.
• 5+ years of experience supporting leadership decision-making through strategic problem framing, analytics, and presentations.
• Advanced financial acumen, including budget development, financial analysis, forecasting, and operational management.
• Strong project management, facilitation, communication, organizational, and judgment skills, including the ability to work through ambiguity.
• 5+ years of experience managing diverse functional teams. Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required; immigration-related sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of low- and middle-income country governments and global health or development institutions such as WHO, the Global Fund, Gavi, UNICEF, or multilateral development banks.
• Experience living and working in low- and middle-income countries.
