TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Robotics): Designing, building, testing, and owning electrical systems for autonomous marine robots with an accent on PCB design, power distribution, sensing, communications, and waterproof electronics. Focus on integrating and debugging complete robotic systems, solving electrical challenges caused by water, vibration, corrosion, high currents, magnetic fields, and electrically noisy shipboard environments.
Location: In office at 1 Cabot Rd, Medford, USA
Company
hirify.global builds autonomous robots that clean the hulls of commercial ships while they are underway, reducing hydrodynamic drag, fuel consumption, operating costs, and maritime CO2 emissions.
What you will do
Design schematics, PCB layouts, electrical architectures, power distribution, cable harnesses, grounding, shielding, and interconnects.
Develop electronics for embedded control, sensing, communications, power systems, and waterproof marine environments.
Bring up, test, characterize, and debug PCB assemblies and complete robotic systems.
Select components and design for reliability, manufacturability, environmental durability, and cost.
Develop test procedures, fixtures, and validation methods, and troubleshoot failures from component level through complete robots.
Support robot assembly, laboratory testing, field testing, repairs, and collaboration with mechanical, firmware, GNC, manufacturing, and test engineers.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Strong fundamentals in analog and digital electronics and electrical system design.
Experience designing schematics and PCBs with KiCad, Altium, OrCAD, or similar tools.
Experience bringing up and debugging custom PCB assemblies.
Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, soldering, PCB rework, cable fabrication, and prototype debugging.
U.S. work authorization is required, and applicants must meet the stated U.S. person or export-control eligibility requirements.
Nice to have
Experience with robotics, automotive, aerospace, marine, or industrial electronics.
Experience with EMI/EMC, RF systems, marine electrical systems, high-voltage or high-current systems, batteries, motors, and power electronics.
Experience with controlled-impedance PCB design, differential signaling, high-speed interfaces, waterproof or subsea electronics, Linux, and embedded systems.
Experience with compliance testing, environmental testing, simulation, FPGA, SerDes, high-speed ADC/DAC, or production test fixtures.
Culture & Benefits
Full-time, hands-on engineering position with significant ownership.
Work includes laboratory testing, field testing, robot assembly, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Electrical systems must operate under demanding marine conditions including water, vibration, corrosion, magnetic fields, long cable runs, and electrical noise.
The position generally does not include employment-based immigration sponsorship; exceptional cases may be considered at the company's discretion.
