Claims Representative II (Life Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; working hours are 8:30 AM–5:00 PM EST.

Salary: $55,200–$65,000 annually, plus eligibility for a target 3% annual incentive payment.

What you will do

• Research, evaluate, and process non-contestable and complex life and health insurance claims.
• Review policy records, coverage, claimant identity, beneficiary and ownership changes, estates, trusts, assignments, and applicable legal requirements.
• Evaluate accelerated death, foreign death, waiver, and accidental death claims; request investigations and additional documentation when needed.
• Maintain complete claim files, follow up on pending claims, process settlements and payments, and complete applicable tax documentation.
• Identify and escalate fraud indicators, resolve competing-claim and claims-administration issues, and communicate with claimants, attorneys, agents, reinsurers, and internal partners.
• Support reinsurance notifications and recoverables, reporting, analytical projects, and training for specialized claims processes.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience as a Claims Representative I or in comparable claims work.
• Advanced knowledge of claims practices, claims systems, policy records, life insurance products, and contract provisions.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization, time management, communication, customer service, decision-making, problem-solving, analytical, technical, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to interpret contract language, collaborate with business partners, and manage multiple priorities accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Availability to work remotely from the United States during EST business hours is required.

Nice to have

• Some college coursework.
• Three to five years of experience in claims, customer service, or a related insurance administrative role.
• LOMA 281, LOMA 291, and ACS 100 coursework.
