TL;DR
Lead/Principal Reliability Engineer (Quantum Computing Hardware): Developing reliability strategies, analyses, and accelerated testing for first-of-kind quantum computing hardware with an accent on photonics, optical systems, extreme-high vacuum components, and cryogenic cooling systems. Focus on physics-of-failure modeling, quantitative reliability prediction, root-cause analysis, and driving reliability-centered design decisions for emerging technologies.

Location: Broomfield, Colorado, United States; hybrid schedule with up to 2 remote days per week

Base pay: $161,000–$218,000 annually, plus bonus and equity eligibility

Company

hirify.global develops a full-stack quantum computing platform for real-world applications across pharmaceuticals, materials science, financial services, government, industry, and research.

What you will do

  • Define reliability strategies for new technologies with limited historical data, evolving architectures, and unproven materials or processes.
  • Develop system- and product-level reliability analyses using component and subassembly testing and published reliability data.
  • Build physics-of-failure models with component and discipline subject matter experts.
  • Create accelerated stress tests, characterization methods, reliability metrics, and prediction methods for first-of-kind technologies.
  • Partner with design teams on derating, margin analysis, redundancy strategies, component selection, and reliability requirements.
  • Analyze prototypes and test results, identify root causes, quantify reliability risks, and recommend design or process improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of professional reliability engineering experience; equivalent experience thresholds are 6 years with a master’s degree or 5 years with a PhD.
  • Experience with products or systems involving photonics, lasers, advanced materials, optical sensors, or optical systems.
  • Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
  • Experience with quantitative reliability analysis, including MTBF, failure rate, probability of mission success, and FMECA.
  • Proficiency in physics of failure, statistical analysis, reliability prediction tools, reliability testing, and design-for-reliability methods.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with highly accelerated life and stress testing, environmental stress methods, reliability test equipment, and data analysis.
  • Experience studying new technologies and supporting first-generation product introductions.

Culture & Benefits

  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements supporting work-life balance.
  • Employer-subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company match and student loan repayment benefit.
  • Equity opportunities, paid time off, sick leave, and 12 paid holidays.
  • Paid parental leave and employee discount programs.

Hiring process

  • Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis with no stated deadline.
  • Reasonable adjustments are available throughout the recruitment and interview process.
