Principal Manufacturing Quality Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; on-site

Base salary: $170,000–$200,000 per year, plus annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Establish manufacturing engineering, quality, reliability, and machining support priorities for repeatable quantum-computer builds.
• Lead design-for-manufacturability, assembly, test, and serviceability reviews for optical, electronic, vacuum, and mechanical hardware.
• Develop and qualify optical cleaning, bonding, precision assembly, electronic build, test, alignment, and inspection methods.
• Design and qualify fixtures and tooling, and direct machining support for approved manufacturing needs.
• Capture first-of-a-kind manufacturing knowledge in controlled work instructions and training.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for assembly defects, alignment rework, and test failures while improving build cycles and first-pass results.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, optical, or electrical engineering, physics, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience with precision optical, electromechanical, or scientific equipment.
• 3+ years managing technical teams.
• Experience transitioning engineering prototypes into repeat production through process qualification, fixture development, design for manufacturability, and controlled documentation.
• Knowledge of optical bonding and alignment, vacuum and mechanical assembly, electronic production, tolerances, contamination control, and service access.
• Experience with first-article inspection, calibration, nonconformance control, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and operator qualification.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
• Experience with quantum hardware, photonics, or atomic-instrument manufacturing.
