TL;DR
Senior System Integration & Test Engineer (Quantum Computing): Integrating and aligning optical, laser-delivery, mechanical, and electronic subsystems for neutral-atom quantum computers with an accent on free-space alignment, fiber coupling, beam diagnostics, and configuration control. Focus on diagnosing cross-subsystem interface issues, validating complete-system readiness, and producing precise handoff records for atom-based testing.
Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; on-site
Base salary: $150,000–$175,000 per year, plus annual bonus and equity.
Company
hirify.global develops quantum computers based on arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms.
What you will do
Install and verify optical, laser-delivery, mechanical, and electronic assemblies against approved system configurations.
Align free-space optical paths, beam-delivery and imaging interfaces, fibers, polarization, and coupling without atoms.
Measure optical throughput, beam quality, and alignment stability using approved diagnostics and metrology.
Diagnose cross-subsystem alignment and interface issues with laser, controls, and subsystem engineers.
Complete controls, safety, readiness, and configuration checks while maintaining laser-laboratory safety.
Prepare system-integration handoff packages and improve integration instructions and alignment methods for repeat builds.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in physics, optical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent integration experience; an MS is preferred.
At least 5 years of hands-on integration and alignment experience with precision laser, optical, or atomic-physics systems involving multiple interacting subsystems.
Strong skills in free-space alignment, fiber coupling, polarization control, and end-to-end optical troubleshooting.
Understanding of neutral-atom hardware functions, including trapping, optical addressing, and imaging.
Ability to interpret optical layouts, mechanical references, electrical connections, and interface-control documentation.
Experience with optical power meters, beam cameras, alignment records, and safe laser-laboratory practices.
Nice to have
Experience integrating quantum-computing or atomic, molecular, and optical laboratory hardware.
Experience collaborating with experimental physicists.
Familiarity with RF/control interfaces and laboratory scripting.
Culture & Benefits
Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
Unlimited paid time off, short- and long-term disability coverage, FSA, dependent-care benefits, and life insurance.
401(k) company matching.
Annual bonus and equity in addition to base salary.
Drinks, snacks, and catered team lunches provided at the offices.
