Scientist I, Research Associate (Chemical-Mechanical Planarization)

Location: Aurora, Illinois, United States; onsite laboratory work required at least 80% of the time

Salary: $56,500–$83,000 per year, depending on skills and experience

What you will do

• Execute experiments for slurry and cleaning formulations, measurement method development, and process development.
• Perform wet-lab, polishing, formulation, reliability, wet-chemistry, and instrument studies.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize experimental data using appropriate statistical tools.
• Support improvements to data collection, analysis, and quality.
• Maintain laboratory equipment through calibrations and preventive maintenance.
• Contribute to laboratory safety and operational efficiency, including safety committee leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of hands-on wet-chemistry and characterization-instrument experience.
• Experience with safe laboratory practices and experimental methodology.
• Hands-on experience with particle and surface science techniques, including particle size distribution, zeta potential, contact angle, and thin-film measurements.
• Ability to execute experiments, analyze basic data, and communicate findings clearly.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic statistical analysis using Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar tools.
