Chemist (Formulation)

Location: Hybrid in Princeton, New Jersey, United States; in-person attendance required Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work available Mondays and Fridays.

Salary: US base salary of $71,000–$101,100 per year, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead assigned product research and development activities from concept through launch and post-launch with minimal supervision.
• Develop and optimize product formulas by designing experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and making evidence-based recommendations.
• Provide technical support for production start-ups, new product launches, manufacturing operations, and improvements to existing brands.
• Design and execute product testing for claim substantiation with internal teams and external laboratories or research partners.
• Monitor competitive intelligence, market trends, and consumer feedback to identify product innovation opportunities.
• Create and maintain product specifications, Bundle Books, Design History Files, Product Information Files, and related documentation.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience, or a Ph.D. with 0–3 years of industry experience.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize workload, and solve problems in a changing environment.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, Process Development, Packaging, Analytical, Safety, Clinical, Regulatory, and other functions.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and work-planning skills.
• Ability to work in the Princeton, NJ hybrid arrangement with required in-person attendance three days per week.

Nice to have

• Formulation expertise in personal care cosmetics or consumer health products, including formula development and optimization.
• Experience with technology scouting, competitive benchmarking, or identifying new ingredients and formulation technologies.
• Experience working with U.S./FDA and E.U. regulatory requirements for cosmetics or other regulated personal care and consumer health products.
