Chief Engineer, Software (Aerospace Robotics)

Location: Melbourne, Florida, United States; office environment required. Occasional travel is required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, protected individuals, or approved for an export license under ITAR/EAR requirements.

Salary: $154,500–$247,250 per year

What you will do

• Design, architect, and implement software for complex robotic and aerospace systems.
• Lead technical development of real-time, high-reliability software and networking solutions for uncrewed systems.
• Develop product roadmaps, software estimates, design documentation, technical reports, and coding standards.
• Support component and integrated-system testing, demonstrations, and customer presentations.
• Collaborate with software developers to reuse solutions across programs and deliver work within schedule and budget.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to software processes using Scrum.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 10 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++, Java, Golang, and/or Python, with knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and development workflows.
• Experience with Ubuntu and/or CentOS Linux, unit testing, debugging, source code configuration management, Git or SVN, IDEs, and debuggers.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• U.S. person status or eligibility for an applicable export license is required under ITAR/EAR.

Nice to have

• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience leading small engineering teams and developing software for robotic or aerospace systems.
