Associate Scientist, Quality (Protein-Based Immunoassays)

Location: Rockville, Maryland, United States; standard office environment.

Annual base salary: $67,900–$101,000, with potential discretionary or non-discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Manage testing, technical transfer, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring for protein-based immunoassays.
• Review testing data, investigate failures, perform descriptive statistical analyses, and trend process and product performance.
• Conduct experiments, summarize results, and present recommendations to cross-functional teams and senior management.
• Lead Material Review Board meetings and coordinate CAPA documentation, including deviations and non-conforming material reports.
• Develop, revise, and implement SOPs, test records, and product specifications while maintaining laboratory documentation compliance.
• Support process improvement, laboratory organization, inventory and equipment management, 5S compliance, and laboratory safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience; additional education may substitute for experience, and additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• Strong understanding of protein-based immunoassay techniques, with the ability to troubleshoot assays and reagents using logical problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Understanding of basic molecular biology techniques, laboratory safety precautions, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks, communicate laboratory issues and results clearly, and work under tight deadlines.
• Leadership skills and knowledge of staff management, performance expectations, accountabilities, and development practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data analysis tools and databases.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of protein-based immunoassay execution, development, and optimization.
• Knowledge of Design of Experiments methods.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, Minitab, or other statistical analysis software.
