Senior Mod Developer (Minecraft)

Location: Fully remote. Employment is currently available in Germany, the UK, Republic of Ireland, and Austria; Canada, the US, and Croatia are planned to follow. Fixed-term contractor arrangements are available outside the employment countries.

Salary: €46,790–€53,809 gross per annum based on 40 hours per week as an employee. Rates and benefits vary by local currency and country.

What you will do

• Own the development of core systems and significant user-facing features.
• Review specifications, designs, and code with a focus on correctness and cross-version compatibility.
• Work with product and design teams to refine feature requirements and technical solutions.
• Debug platform behavior, write Mixins, and support compatibility across Minecraft versions and other mods.
• Improve internal tooling, code standards, and development processes.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Experience working as part of a software engineering team.
• Strong programming experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Experience building complex user-facing applications.
• Experience mentoring developers and conducting code reviews.
• Ability to investigate unfamiliar systems, navigate ambiguity, and make confident technical decisions.
• Clear communication skills and comfort with Git-based workflows and project management tools such as Linear or Jira.

Nice to have

• Experience with Minecraft modding or Mixins.
• Experience with Kotlin coroutines and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and Python.
