Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Plainfield, Indiana, United States; hybrid schedule with 4 days in-office and 1 day remote

Salary: $135,000–$169,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise-scale cloud-native software solutions.
• Build microservices, event-driven services, REST APIs, reusable frameworks, and platform components.
• Engineer AWS-based applications and infrastructure using Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and observability.
• Develop AI-enabled capabilities including intelligent search, recommendations, workflow automation, analytics, natural language interfaces, and knowledge retrieval.
• Design resilient systems for large-scale sample and laboratory data workloads, including scalability, performance, security, and disaster recovery.
• Lead technical initiatives, participate in architecture and release planning, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, architecture, UX, DevOps, quality, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing enterprise applications, including SaaS or cloud-native solutions and full SDLC experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java with experience in React/TypeScript and/or Python.
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, third-party integrations, AWS, Kubernetes/Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, DevSecOps, secure software development, monitoring, observability, and AI, machine learning, generative AI, or intelligent automation.
• Knowledge of REST, OpenAPI, HL7, and FHIR interoperability standards, plus strong architecture, system design, communication, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with LIMS, biobanking, laboratory or scientific software, laboratory instrument integration, or life sciences and healthcare environments.
• Experience with regulated environments such as GxP, FDA, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
• Knowledge of bioinformatics, genomics, sample management, scientific workflows, or multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Experience with AI-enabled search, knowledge retrieval, natural language interfaces, or workflow automation.
