Mechanical Design Engineer (Defense Systems)

What you will do

• Lead the physical product design of hardware assemblies, mechanical housings, custom structures, and precision mechanisms from concept through industrialization.
• Create fully constrained CAD models, multi-part assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using formal GD&T standards.
• Manage engineering change requests, bills of materials, material libraries, and configuration controls in PDM or PLM systems.
• Build and verify prototypes, test assembly sequences, evaluate tolerance stack-ups, and establish unit build procedures.
• Perform structural, thermal, vibration, mechanical shock, and other environmental analyses for harsh operational conditions.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams on manufacturing, packaging, interfaces, testing, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong experience with production CAD environments and formal ASME or ISO GD&T drafting standards.
• Practical experience with configuration management, engineering change notices, and PDM or PLM tools such as Siemens Teamcenter.
• Design experience with machining, stamping, casting, forging, pressing, and injection molding.
• Ability to perform basic environmental, thermal, shock, and stress evaluations.
• Hands-on skills in prototype assembly, supplier management, and technical troubleshooting.
