Sr Project Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States; primarily in-office, with occasional travel to customer or field locations and possible work in hazardous project-site environments.

Estimated starting salary: $181,136.21–$249,062.29 per year, depending on skills, experience, education, training, certifications, and geographic differential.

What you will do

• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, technical status reports, and risk assessments for RAPCON-X-derived programs.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and integration activities for prototype-to-production transitions and the next-generation IRS platform.
• Provide technical guidance on engineering analysis, system integration, requirements management, design maturity, and operational program baselines.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, translating requirements into engineering actions and communicating decisions, progress, and impacts.
• Identify design, integration, and performance issues; coordinate investigations, resolution plans, and mitigation strategies.
• Improve engineering processes and apply best practices in system design, integration, modeling, and workflow execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 12+ years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership role.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practice, with experience in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
• Strong understanding of requirements management, system design, system integration, technical risk, cost, and schedule management.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Top Secret security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required for employment because an active U.S. security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• 6–8 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience.
• Master’s degree and experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams while communicating with program management and customers.
• Experience with project estimates, technical proposals, baseline definition, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures.
• INCOSE experience or certification and a background in the aerospace and defense industry.
