TL;DR
Data Center Sustainability Manager (German-speaking) (Data Center Sustainability/ESG): Leading sustainability initiatives across global data center operations with an accent on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, regulatory compliance, and ESG reporting. Focus on optimizing PUE and WUE, developing infrastructure standards, validating environmental data, and supporting customer decarbonization assessments.

Location: Budapest, Debrecen, Pécs, or Szeged, Hungary; hybrid work with remote work available only within Hungary due to European taxation regulations.

What you will do

  • Lead and coordinate sustainability initiatives across global data center operations.
  • Drive energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction programs covering power distribution, cooling, emergency power, and building technologies.
  • Manage energy, emissions, and operational efficiency data collection, validation, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with EU sustainability regulations, data center energy efficiency standards, CSRD, and internal ESG requirements.
  • Develop engineering standards, technical specifications, and sustainability guidelines for data center infrastructure.
  • Support customer assessments, audits, decarbonization initiatives, presales, supplier evaluations, and international engineering collaboration.

Requirements

  • Experience planning, monitoring, and implementing technical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of energy efficiency optimization and sustainability measures in data center environments.
  • Ability to analyze, validate, and report technical and environmental performance data.
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting, climate targets, carbon reduction initiatives, and relevant EU, ISO, and EN standards.
  • Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills across internal teams, customers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • English and German at minimum B2 level are mandatory.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of the EU Taxonomy Regulation, Energy Efficiency Directive, European Code of Conduct for Data Centre Energy Efficiency, ISO 50001, and ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of EN 50600 and related international data center and facility standards.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems, Energy Management Systems, and monitoring technologies.
