Senior Software Engineer - Specialist Titles

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria; hybrid model requiring onsite work 50% of the time

What you will do

• Build and operate platforms supporting FT Specialist brands and strategic business models.
• Make technical decisions that support the technology strategy and contribute to its refinement.
• Develop an understanding of FT Specialist business domains and use it to shape platform development.
• Support the development of more junior team members.
• Communicate technical best practices across the organization and help adopt them where appropriate.

Requirements

• Extensive experience building modern web products and services, with deep knowledge of at least one programming language.
• Professional experience with JavaScript, React, GraphQL, Node.js, cloud infrastructure, databases, document stores, search technologies, data warehouses, and message queues.
• Experience with application performance tuning, fault-tolerant design, and CI/CD delivery pipelines.
• Ability to write automated unit and end-to-end tests and balance customer, business, and product quality requirements.
• Experience with marketing technology platforms and editorial technology such as CMS and event management platforms.
• Ability to work in the Sofia hybrid model, including onsite work 50% of the time.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CDNs such as Cloudflare, CloudFront, or Akamai.
• Experience with observability, operability, API development, and scalable software design such as the 12-factor methodology.
